I have to say that I was shocked at just how beautiful upstate NY is during the summer. We’ve frequented Corning, NY numerous times but we’ve always gone during Thanksgiving or during the winter months. I was blown away by the natural beauty and honestly it was hard to leave. We celebrated the fourth of July at a cottage on lake Goodhue where Chris’s family has held a seasonal residence since he was a boy, and it was such a thrill to learn all the in’s & out’s of this place. There was no TV, no cell phones, just quiet. My husband was definitely relishing in swimming in the lake with our son and taking me out on the canoe and paddle boats fishing. He knew the lay of the land and it was cute to let him show us around. It was as peaceful of a place as I can remember and I’m thankful we got to spend the time there with his family. If that wasn’t enough we caught up with old friends, witnessed a gorgeous wedding by a truly genuine couple and ate like kings! Sometimes it’s little things like the few days we had away that really do make up this beautiful life.
